Our vacuum was on its way out. In fact, it had been slowly dying for a long time.

It screeched when we turned it on – so bad that no one wanted to be around when we used it, which was often with our small space and lots of feet.  If the hose was moved off to one side it completely turned off. Slowly it began to lose suction power.  Even with a new bag, the vacuum did not regain the umph needed to suck up our dirt.

How I dreaded the need to buy another.  I felt like it would take some research to do my best to buy a vacuum that would last but not cost an arm and leg.  I assumed it would at the very least cost more than I wanted to pay.

Hundreds of dollars could be spent on a tool just to clean my dirty floors.  It seemed like such a waste of my husband’s time earning money to provide for us.

Then it died completely.

I liked our vacuum and did not wish for another.

Often when we have a definite need like this I take it to the Lord.  This time it did not occur to me to talk to God about our dead vacuum.

I borrowed a vacuum a couple of times.  What a bother.

Enter a God of Detail

Not long after my vacuum died I had an unexpected trip to town ~ remember my trips to town is about 100 miles, one way.

We went to a Goodwill that I do not often get to since it is across town, and more expensive than another favorite thrift store that I like to frequent.

Amber (7) was with me and she went ahead of me to the back of the store.  She was not gone long before she came back to me and said: “Mom, there is a vacuum just like ours back in the back of the store!”

I skipped checking out all the other isles and headed to the back.  Sure enough a vacuum EXACTLY like ours.  Even the same color.  I plugged it in and tried it out – it worked!

Price tag?   $9.99.

I was thrilled!

God not only provided a vacuum, But He also took care of the details in true God ways.

Remember how I dreaded educating myself on what vacuum to get?  I did not have to question the purchase.  I already knew I liked this vacuum…all the way down to the color.  The Lord’s timing was totally perfect along with the price.

The person that donated the vacuum did it before I shopped the store, then it had to be priced and on the floor for me to see it.  I had not planned on that trip to town.   My vacuum had to die before I would shop for a different one.  It was affordable.

Definitely a God of details.

And I did not even ask.  He knows our needs better than we do.  This was a need for a lowly vacuum.  How much more does God care about the deep needs of our hearts?

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?   But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. ” (Luke 12:6-7)
